Invisalign: Is It Worth Your While?

Invisalign: Is It Worth Your While?

Posted by Dr. Craig Cardon on Jul 9 2021, 06:53 AM

In 1997, inventors Zia Chishti and Kelsey Wirth introduced the first model of clear aligners called Invisalign. This orthodontic device was designed to be a comfortable and esthetically pleasing alternative to traditional braces.

Over 24 years later, Invisalign has reinvigorated over 10 million smiles in the United States and the world. But, is it worth your while?

At Table Mountain Dental in Arvada, Colorado, Dr. Craig Cardon, DMD, has helped dozens of patients overcome their orthodontic concerns with Invisalign. Let’s take a closer look at what the device is all about and how it can help you attain a fulfilling smile.

What Is Invisalign?

Short for Invisible Aligners, Invisalign is a plastic tray designed to fit snugly over your teeth and fix bite and misalignment issues.

The Invisalign treatment process involves the following steps:

  • During your appointment, Dr. Cardon will check if you are a good fit for the Invisalign treatment. He will ask you a few clinical questions as well as make sure you are willing to wear the trays for 22 hours each day.
  • In the next step, our team will take X-rays, impressions, and photographs of your teeth. Based on the gathered information, Dr. Cardon will create a customized treatment plan that incorporates how the teeth need to move during the treatment and then forward your requirements to Invisalign.
  • The Invisalign trays will be fabricated and arrive in one month.

Things to Know About Invisalign

Here are a few things to know before opting for Invisalign:

  • Depending on your treatment schedule, you are given a specific number of trays that you need to wear for two weeks in their respective order. For instance, if your treatment is for ten weeks, you will be given five sets of trays.
  • You are required to wear the trays for at least 22 hours each day.
  • Dr. Cardon may glue small attachments to your teeth to ensure they receive the necessary pressure and align perfectly.
  • You need to wear retainers for at least a year after the treatment to maintain the results.

Invisalign offers a host of advantages compared to traditional braces and enables you to be your confident best throughout the treatment process.
